Australian VPN – Best Way To Bypass Censorship

by Adam Gill

Back in July 2011, an announcement was made by Australian Communication and Media Authority (ACMA) that over 500 websites will be censored in the country. Well, it seems like many people living in the country are affected with that decision and they are trying to find the ways to once again surf the internet freely by bypassing this censorship. Previously, Australia was a country where there were no internet restrictions but now many websites are restricted in the country and that really affects the way people use internet in the country.

Popularity of Entertainment Portals in Australia:

In addition to that, people living in Australia also like to watch Hollywood movies, US/UK TV shows and music but many of those popular websites are only accessible in the countries like US and UK. So, Australians are also unable to get access to such websites including Hulu, iPlayer, 4oD, Netflix, Veoh, Pandora and several other streaming websites that are basically geo restricted to US or UK.

Increase in Rate of Cyber Crimes in Australia:

In the recent times we have seen a sudden rise in cyber crimes as many hackers and cyber criminals are affecting thousands of people around the world by stealing their personal information, credit card info and other online content. With these types of circumstances people have now become very conscious about their online security and that is why they are trying to find ways to ensure their online freedom.

People around the world also like to get their hands on movies and music content for free from some illegal sources like torrents but they usually get caught by the authorities and they require something to protect their privacy from the authorities as well as their ISPs.

Why is a Free Proxy Service Not an Option?

At this time, there are many ways to bypass censorship in Australia. These ways include Proxy servers, Tor, Google DNS and VPN. Today we are going to discuss all of them for your better understanding. First of all, we will talk about the proxy servers because it is an unreliable web based service and through this service you will be transmitting your data. So, it is not a safe option and it will not be able to protect your online activity as well as online privacy from the prying eyes. In addition to that, you will not be able to stream videos from websites like Hulu, Netflix and other similar streaming websites because a Proxy server cannot provide the required bandwidth speed to stream videos.

Why is VPN even Better than Tor?

When we talk about Tor, it is still unreliable in the fields of security and privacy and it is even claimed by its own official and it is also incapable of streaming videos on the above mentioned websites. Google DNS is a good choice but it will be useless when Australian authorities will permanently block the IP addresses of the blacklisted websites. And we are left with a VPN service that will be able to solve all your worries.

VPN vs Proxy vs Tor: The Choice is Yours!

Well, this is basically a VPN review website but still we are not recommending VPN service only and you can decide that for yourself. If you want to, you can always get a proxy service but you will be facing many issues like transferring of passwords and other sensitive information through some other non trusted websites. You can also get Tor, but again it will risk your online security. When we use the Google DNS, it would be useless when IP addresses will be blocked and it cannot provide you with a new IP address and that will prevent you from accessing all the geo restricted websites.

Only VPN is the Best of All!

So, in the end, we have found out that a VPN or Virtual Private Network is the one and only best solution for all your online issues. With the help of a VPN connection, users living in Australia will be able to access all the internet content just like the rest of the world and avoid the local firewalls that get in their way.

Uses of VPN for an Average Australian Citizen:

A VPN connection is the safest tool that will ensure your online protection by encrypting your data which cannot be decrypted by anyone else without your permission. It will also assign you a new IP address from another country that will let you access all of your favorite streaming websites, like Hulu, iPlayer, Netflix, Veoh, Pandora and many others. In addition to that, Australian authorities as well as ISPs will not be able to detect or monitor your internet activity and if they do, they will not be able to trace it back to you and that will keep you anonymous all the time.

There are many VPN service providers that provide their services for the Australian people and you can get VPN Service in Australia without any trouble. Way to go Hidemyass! It is going to win the hearts of a million people as it won mine. Here in Sydney I am getting the real taste of life. And my expenses are only $11.52 per month. Isn’t it surprising? Yes it is. Whatever, love you HideMyAss.

In Australia Hide My Ass is doing great, and I totally agree with Steve. So many harmless US show providing sites got censored due to the cyber crimes. I really started missing them. Then a friend suggested me to take the help of proxy servers. I searched and searched and heard about VPN service providers. In Australia they are doing great. There were so many options, and in internet research you will find many positive and negative reviews about them as well. I was going crazy judging them all and finally decided to just try one and not think so much. Because it varies from person to person I have seen. Otherwise, why would the same VPN be great to one and crappy to the other? From reviews Hide My Ass seemed to be the best option for me and I purchased it for a month. I was pleased with it. So extended it for another 6 months. Its the 5th month I have been using Hide My Ass in a row and really can not complain.

Thank you all for being patient (if you have read my comment ). Or those who did not, thanks any way 😛 Try Hide My Ass that is all I suggest.

Hide My Ass system worked good. Even my 4 year old son would be able to install it I guess, it is that easy. My questions were answered quickly every time by the customer care, whenever I had one. Only problem I had once was with a download and showed some system error. The customer service people responded quickly to me with a alternate download site. Very impressive.

Thank you guys for such a detailed review. I also started to use hide my ass service recently and what a wonder this is. Not only I am able to get connected to the USA or UK based online streaming sites, gaming sites and news channels, I can even watch home stuff and access to my bank or other necessary services while I am away and flying or visiting some other place. Their service is simply awesome for Australian VPN.
