Setting up PPTP and L2TP VPN on iPhone 4

by Adam Gill

Every iPhone user would like to stay connected over the internet, irrespective of his physical location. This can be in a coffee shop, hotel or any wi-fi connected public hotspots. Unfortunately, the same habits that allow us to be connected 24/7 via our high-tech mobile devices also expose us to the risks of internet data theft. Unsecured networks, in particular, are excellent locations that allow net attackers, hackers and cyber-criminals to gain access to the very same networks that we are connected to, and in the process steal our personal information like usernames, passwords, credit card information and the likes.

Additionally, what good is your mobile device if you are not able to access all the content that you want? For example, there are several countries in the world where internet censorship is rampant and this prevents one from accessing such common social networking sites as Facebook and Twitter. The same can be said of videos which are designed to be viewed only be people located in a certain area such as Netflix which only restricts viewership to people within the US.
